Is MahShelf free to use?

Yes, all features of MahShelf are free of charge.

Who can upload books to MahShelf?

Everyone can.

Isn't that a bit…er…unprofessional?

Not at all. There's beauty in everybody as well as their own-generated books.

What kinds of book can there be on MahShelf?

Generally, any kind of book. But we are trying to build up a community around books that are easy to understand (bigger font, less text) and amusing to read (more images, photos). Therefore, comics, mangas, strips, graphic novels, photo collections…even slideshows can be considered “MahShelf kind of book”.

How about the types of content?

Of course, we don't accept certain types of content. For example, if you upload any pornographic content, when detected by our editors, it will be deleted. You can turn to our Terms of Use for more detail about this issue.

Which file types of books can I upload to MahShelf?

Until now, we have been accepting uploads of 3 image file types: jpg (jpeg), png and gif. In the future you can also upload document file types (ppt, pdf, doc…), but all of those files will also be converted to image (png) format.

That doesn't sound like books.

Consider our focus on comics, mangas…books with a lot of images and less text, online books on MahShelf are different from books and documents with hundreds of pages and huge amount of text. The way we do things here is to make it more fun to read books online. If you enjoy quick reads and entertaining moments, then MahShelf is for you.

Do you have any online editing tool for creating books?

No, but there are a lot of free programs that you can use to create pages of your books to upload to MahShelf. You can find some of those programs in our list of essential tools.
